Welcome to Prince of Wales N Public School!

We are pleased to provide an outstanding education at Prince of Wales Public School for our students. Innovative programs that meet the needs of all our students are taught by our dedicated and professional staff who care about your child. Our school provides extra-curricular opportunities that encourage the development of excellence, integrity and respect.

Our Board is focused on literacy and numeracy achievement and creating an environment where we are working together on our goal of success for every student. We also value the community partnerships and parent involvement which are so crucial to a successful education for our students.

We welcome your input and questions.

Halloween 2020

We recognize that students and families are anxiously awaiting for news on plans for Halloween celebrations at Prince of Wales. We are doing as much as possible to allow your child a chance to participate in activities, but we acknowledge that they have to look different from other years to ensure the safety of everyone. At Prince of Wales, we have been working hard to ensure the safety of our staff and students. With Hallowe’en two weeks away, please know that plans can always change as directed from the province or Public Health. Here is what we have planned:

• Celebrations will take place on Friday, October 30.

• On Friday, we are asking students to either dress in orange and black OR come to school dressed in a costume.

Wearing a costume this year will require a few restrictions, but we know students are extremely creative and can make the best of it. Guidelines if a student chooses to wear a costume: - The costume must be able to be worn comfortably all day, including outdoors for recess and phys. ed. periods. - Consider the daily temperature when choosing a costume so your child is not too hot or too cold wearing it. - The costume must allow for your child to use the washroom independently. - No Halloween masks (that cover the face) other than the non-medical masks that are part of our safety strategy for COVID-19. Children can be creative as there are some great non-medical masks available that could be used with their costume. - No accessories (e.g., cane, magic fairy wands, broom). Students must store all items in their backpacks on the backs of their chairs, so we do not have room for costume accessories. - Remember it is a school environment, so no excessive blood or weapons. Costumes must be appropriate for our youngest students to see. • Each class will be planning activities within their classroom community, separate from those being planned in other cohorts. • We know that Halloween treats are such a huge part of Halloween but unfortunately, due to Niagara Public Health restrictions, we ask that you please do not send in any treats for the class to share. The school will be providing an ice cream sandwich bar treat (or popsicle which is gluten and dairy free for students with allergies) for each child. We hope this treat will be fun for the students. • A traditional parade is not possible at this time, so our staff will share photos on their D2L site or google classroom. Thank you so much for being flexible this year as we try our best to stay safe and healthy while still celebrating the fun of the season.
